LDA Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) non-profit helping children, youth, and adults with learning disabilities, ADHD and other learning challenges.
Our mission: LDA Minnesota serves individuals, families and communities impacted by learning differences, equipping and inspiring learners to thrive and lead fulfilled lives.
LDA Minnesota programs serve not only individuals who have been identified with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders (ADD & ADHD), but also students who may be at risk of academic failure.
Our programs provide services throughout the lifespan and include the following:
Learning Connections: focuses on preventing severe academic difficulties or school failure by providing early intensive reading, math and writing instruction for children & youth facing academic failure. Specially-trained teachers work with students in small groups to help close the achievement gap for the Twin Cities’ neediest students.
Assessment and Consultation Services: include learning disabilities assessments; diagnostic assessments for other learning difficulties, including ADHD; assessments for GED accommodations; and individual consultations.
ADHD Services: includes adult support groups and academic coaching for students and adults.
Tutoring for All Ages: includes individualized and specialized instruction to improve basic math, reading, organization, and test preparation skills for all ages, including adults.
Training Services: helps schools and districts increase their professional development and implementation of new educational practices, strategies, and curricula.
Special Education Teacher Licensure: a new program in 2019, provides teacher preparation for the Academic Behavioral Strategist license to a diverse cohort of teacher candidates through a residency program that provides mentoring, coaching and a supportive environment.
