Invest in Healing: Liberty Community Church – Mission and Impact

At Liberty Community Church, we are healers in need of healing!  Our purpose is to gather, transform, and live our beliefs, deeply rooted in the principles of liberation and the action-reflection model of the historic African American church.

We work in three program areas: the 21st Century Academy, Northside Healing Space (NHS), and HomePlace, all reflecting love-in-action that we cultivate through our church community.

Homeplace

HomePlace addresses alarming disparities in maternal health for African American mothers, who are 2.8 times more likely to experience maternal death than white mothers. Our vision is to ensure equitable health outcomes, culturally compassionate care, and comprehensive resources for African American birthing parents.

Key Initiatives at HomePlace:

  • Culturally-Centered Healing: Enhance connection and belonging for birthing parents through protective tools like bodywork, music, and art.
  • Practical Support: Provide intergenerational learning on early parenting and essential support, such as transportation and supplies.
  • Economic Relief: Offer trust-based resource allocation to alleviate financial strain and support access to benefits and housing.
  • Pathways to Trusted Providers: Foster relationships with healthcare providers to ensure responsive care and educate medical professionals.

Join our mission to uplift African American families in North Minneapolis. HomePlace serves as a sanctuary for love and connection, aiming to reduce maternal health disparities and foster healing within the community. Your support will empower families, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued. Together, we can create a thriving future for every African American family. Your investment can drive transformative change for both families and systems.

Donate Today!

Your donation today comes at a critical point in our work. Liberty is starting a HomePlace pilot now to wrap around African American birthing families with love and practical support. And in April 2025, we will launch the HomePlace urban retreat center for African American birthing people and their families!
