Judson’s Mission:
We are a spiritually grounded community united in providing sanctuary for all who enter. We seek to open ourselves to the healing and transforming power of God’s love as we seek to follow the life of Jesus: honoring our deepest differences, seeking justice and mercy, discovering and implementing our gifts, and nurturing our children.
Bring Your Hopes. Bring Your Doubts. Feed Your Soul.
We are an imperfect group of people, but we strive to practice our core values each and every day: hospitality, social justice, deep spirituality and joy.
Judson is proud to have supporters like you who make our wonderful church the flourishing, joy-filled, and healing community that it is.
Join us Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

The 2023-24 year at Judson Church was a transformative year. We invited church members to meet for meals and discuss what Judson’s core values are. We concluded that we have 4 core values: Deep Spirituality, Social Justice, Hospitality, and Joy.
We are transforming into a church for the community. We hosted Empty Bowls for the second year in a row. This past year was an amazing success: over 400 people attended, raising over $10,000 to provide housing and mental health counseling to formerly homeless youth. Judson continues to house Meals on Wheels as a ministry (we provide dedicated space and our kitchen at no cost), enabling 75 volunteers to deliver over 700 meals each week to 125 clients in south Minneapolis. We were present at Golden Valley Pride, Open Streets, and Kingfield Porchfest and continue to provide O.W.L. (comprehensive sex education for youth) to the community.
Another area of growth and outreach has been in and through Judson’s Racial Justice Team. We hosted Michael “Laughing Fox” Charette, a Native American flutist and storyteller for the broader community (this continues to be our most watched video on YouTube). 50 members and guests from Judson attended a “Sacred Sites Tour” provided by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs of the Minnesota Council of Churches. The tour included information on Dakota history, culture, and sacred sites, as well as the oppression and genocide they faced, and ultimately their exile. Also, Judson is supporting a rock opera created by one of our members, Randy Baker, to educate people about the injustices created by “Prince Henry the Navigator.” Furthermore, Judson financially supported the production costs and hosted the local premier of Border of Dreams, a captivating Textura documentary by Bethel University’s talented journalism and graphic design students. The film revealed the powerful journey of three men from the Guatemalan highlands who aspired for a new life in the U.S. The film won a Midwest Emmy!
Judson Church is a strong community church firmly rooted in South Minneapolis, but also with a national and international outreach. We continued to support our missionaries, Joel Hoefel and Trish Magal, American Baptist missionaries to Thailand, and the Shapan Orphanage near the Thailand - Myanmar border for Myanmar refugees whose parents either have HIV/AIDS or died because of HIV/AIDS. As of today, we have raised over $35,000 to support the orphanage and $5,000 on Christmas Eve.
Judson Church turns 115 this year. We are a church with a rich tradition that both grounds us and propels us. Each week there are new visitors, each week we are making new connections in the community, each week we are challenging one another to live out our core values of hospitality, social justice, deep spirituality, and joy.
