Visit Historic Fort Belmont in Jackson, MN and step into the history of Southwest Minnesota
In this day and age it is so important to remember our history and how different life once was. When you visit Fort Belmont you have the ability to see what it was like back in the day. We have multiple buildings for you to tour, such as: a 1873 Lysgard Farmhouse, a 1902 Delafield Church, a Log Cabin and Stockage, a Blacksmith Shop, a Sod House, and a Working Grist Mill. There is also a Museum with lots of tools and items from the late 1800's to early 1900's and a Gift Shop. Fort Belmont is conveniently located right off of Interstate 90 and Highway 71. Fort Belmont draws visitors from all over, such as from 44 states and even 18 countries and these are from 2014 alone. The recorded attendance in 2014 was 1,495 visitors, however, this does not count students on school field trips, Sunday evening services of Word, Worship and Watermelon, attendees of weddings and our big weekend celebration of Pioneer Days which this year had 443 people join us. As you can see we have a lot to offer and all of this takes people to operate and upkeep the buildings, we currently have 16 dedicated Board members and multiple devoted volunteers. Next time you are driving past stop in and see us! We are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Monday - Friday, 10 am to 4 pm; Thursday 10 am to 7:30 pm; Saturday 9 am to 3 pm and Sunday 12 to 4 pm.
