We're almost at 30 years, and we don't want to stop there!

Founded in April 1997 by Jean Bierly, IFC began with a vision to support seniors in Faribault County by providing non-medical services to help them live independently at home. With initial funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and community support, IFC quickly grew, offering transportation, friendly visits, and light chores.

By 1998, IFC received its first grant from the Region 9 Area Agency on Aging, enabling the creation of a telephone reassurance program for seniors living alone. By 2000, IFC had 80 volunteers logging nearly 10,000 service hours, earning respect across the community, and in 2000, Faribault County declared February as “Interfaith Volunteer Caregiving” month.

Under Bierly’s leadership, IFC expanded its services and staff. By 2007, the organization became an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit, separate from United Hospital District, to ensure sustainability. New programs like Caregiving Coaching, Life Transitions Mentoring, and the ROSE program were introduced to further support seniors.

In 2010, Daniel Woodring became director, and IFC continued to evolve, adding support groups for caregivers and educational programs like Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Today, IFC remains dedicated to enhancing the well-being of seniors in Faribault and Martin counties, offering vital services to help them age with dignity and independence.
