Hnub Tshiab: Hmong Women Achieving Together envisions a day when there is on-going funding generated by our own endowment that will help us meet our mission of being a catalyst for lasting cultural, institutional, and social change to improve the lives of Hmong women. Also, that there is a safe place for Hmong women to gather around each other, and that we are not dependent on foundation funding and volunteer efforts alone to sustain our work.

The Hmong community has the youngest population demographic in the entire State of Minnesota. Over 50% of our population is younger than age 18 according to the US Census in 2000. Hmong women and girls need support to continue to grow professionally and to be able to guide their own futures.

Building on the current assets of a growing number of emerging Hmong women leaders and their allies, we hope to shape generations of Hmong women and girls in the years to come to build us into a strong and vibrant community that welcomes and encourages them to reach their highest potential and teaches them how to address the unsafe, unhealthy, and unhelpful social conditions that keep them from reaching achieving.

The words “catalyst” and “lasting” in our mission means that we must ensure that future and current generations of Hmong American women’s lives continue to improve. Our coalition of support is growing, and many hundreds of lives have already been touched through our 12 years of operation.
