High School for Recording Arts (HSRA) is a public charter school for students in grades 9-12. HSRA changes lives and society one student at a time by connecting with at-promise teens - through music and other forms of creative expression. The school operates within and around professional recording studios, a video and photography lab and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), where students develop life skills through relevant, hands-on learning tailored to their individual talents, strengths and passions. HSRA remains one of the only recording arts schools of its kind in the United States.  The school targets youth who have opted out of traditional schools in favor of a creative, non-traditional setting that better fits their learning styles and needs.

Whether it’s marketing the world wide release of over twenty years of student produced music or producing that music or our radio show in our state-of-the-art recording studio, HSRA students are on the move.  They’re on the move in our science lab, in our video production studio and in the academic classrooms. And despite the pandemic, our students have been able to continue to learn and create. Their resilience has been recognized in multiple publications. How can we continue to support them and give them the skills and knowledge to be life long learners?

Due to the pandemic, many of our students' daily routines were disrupted and we want to connect them with more at-home and after hours deeper learning kits to strengthen their ability to learn anytime and anywhere in a way that is meaningful, authentic, and engaging. Now, with your help, our students can move up in their acquired knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) programs and create skills that will be valuable to them throughout their lives.

In order to keep moving in the right direction, we need to purchase S.T.E.A.M. kit equipment and supplies that move our students toward being able to compete with the best and brightest young minds in the land as well as support student enterprises that will give them the industry knowledge that in transferable to many other businesses.

Will you make a move . . . an important, meaningful move by helping us raise $10,000 to purchase the S.T.E.A.M. kits for our students and more hand’s on equipment for our Maker’s Space?
