Help support HCI's efforts to create a community where ALL youth thrive!

HCI strives to make Rice County a place where youth want to grow up, live, work, and give back to the community.

We collaborate on 30+ initiatives in Northfield and Faribault that benefit youth and families – innovative programs like Growing Up Healthy, Youth on Boards, TORCH and RISE, and the Northfield Community College Collaborative.

Help support us as we work to support others. $8 of every $10 donated goes directly to programming that supports Rice County’s youth and families!

Here are a few of HCI’s success stories from 2023-24:

Advancing equity countywide

  • We support more than 30 programs that help children and youth (ages 0-24) and their families access early learning programs; mental health support; substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment; safe, energy-efficient, affordable housing; and academic and career support; as well as programs that amplify youth voice and involve typically underrepresented groups in local decision-making.
  • Working in partnership with schools, hospitals, and other nonprofits, we identify needs in the community, build coalitions to develop and run programs, write and administer grants, track data, and lead evaluations. Together, we are improving outcomes for every child regardless of race, ethnicity, or income.

Direct impact on youth and families

  • 4,879 youth empowered through HCI-supported programs such as TORCH, RISE, Youth on Boards, Northfield and Faribault Community Schools, and Northfield Community College Collaborative.
  • 3,987 households, parents, caregivers engaged through HCI-supported programs such as Rice County Chemical and Mental Health Coalition, Growing Up Healthy, and Rice County Family Services Collaborative.
  • 30+ programs fostered; to learn more, visit www.healthycommunityinitiative.org/programs/
