Celebrate 30 Years with a $30 Gift

This year, as we celebrate 30 years of Hats & Mittens, we invite you to mark the milestone with a gift of $30—enough to provide a warm set of hats and mittens for someone in need. Together, we can make sure our neighbors stay warm all winter long.

Did you know that during the 2024–25 winter season, Hats & Mittens distributed over 33,000 sets of hats and mittens—that’s 67,430 pieces of winter gear—across our Twin Cities community? The need remains strong: we’ve already received requests for more than 25,000 sets from 130 organizations, and winter hasn’t even hit Minnesota yet.

Please help us raise the money to purchase waterproof gloves for preschool and elementary aged kids within the community. Warm winter gloves provides so much more than just warmth... it give kids the chance to enjoy the outdoors, encouraging physical activity, creativity, social interaction and so much more!

❤ WARM HANDS, WARM HEADS, WARM HEARTS! ❤

Our organization relies on both financial and physical donations to create our inventory to distribute hat and mitten sets across the Twin Cities and seven metro counties. However,  the pandemic and economy stress has dramatically impacted our collections network. Hats & Mittens has fewer collection sites and receives fewer physical donations than previous years.  In order to keep up with the demand, we purchase hats and mittens at wholesale prices.

Our founder, Rebecca Sundquist, said it best: "A hat and mitten is more than just a hat and mitten, it's about health, it's about warmth, it's about inclusion, it's about provision, and it’s about good mental health. It's important that our children get outside this winter, away from their screens, and enjoy this beautiful Minnesota winter."

More about Hats & Mittens:

Hats & Mittens is a 30-year-old nonprofit founded for the purpose of keeping kids and families warm for the winter season by providing free hats and mittens. The all-volunteer board and committees work throughout the year collecting and distributing new and gently used hats and mittens to organizations, schools, and shelters throughout the Twin Cities and seven metro counties. Through our manufacturing connections, we can secure warm hats and mittens at or below wholesale prices.
