Haiti Kids School

It's fall of 2024 & students and teachers are back in school amid Haiti's turmoil and civil unrest. 

As you can imagine, Lott Carey School serves as a sanctuary, offering a reprieve from the hardships surrounding our Haitian friends—a place where students find safety, healthy food, supportive teachers, medical care from nurses, and the comfort of friendships. Here, they can focus on learning and take a break from the challenges outside.

We'd like to do something extra special for our teachers this Christmas.

With the cost of everyday items unattainably high, it’s hard for many to make ends meet. That’s why we’d love to be able to send an extra Christmas bonus to our teachers. It will take a couple of months to prepare, and we need your help to make it happen. It takes truly special people to teach children, and our Lott Carey teachers demonstrate the utmost patience, kindness, and compassion every day—teachers like Aldene, who teaches 2nd grade at Lott Carey.

Aldene’s love of teaching is clear when she describes her job and why she chose to become a teacher. She has been with us for about seven years, and what she loves most about teaching is seeing the moment her students finally understand what she's explaining to them. Watching their eyes light up with understanding is a universal joy for any teacher. One of her biggest challenges is finding books and materials so she can better serve her students. She asks for your prayers for her well-being and economic stability.

Our goal is to raise $8,000 by November 30, 2024, so we can deliver the gifts to Haiti before Christmas.

Haiti Kids School is a Minnesota-based 501c3 organization whose mission is to make a difference in the Haitian communities. We vow to help create change by making education, nutrition, and health services available to the Haitian communities we serve. Haiti Kids School has been supporting Lott Carey School in Leogane, Haiti since 2008.
