Haiti Kids School

In the middle of fear, Lott Carey School is a refuge. 

Families fleeing gang violence in nearby towns are finding a bit of sanctuary in Léogane, and classrooms at Lott Carey are overflowing with children who long to learn and be safe. Last year, our student roster grew by 63% and is now at nearly 600 enrolled students – the most we have ever served – because need has come to our doorstep.

In an already challenging environment, everything has become more difficult and more expensive. The only reliable way people in Léogane are receiving supplies right now is by boat. This reality has severely increased the price of food, fuel, and school supplies. But in the midst of all this chaos, our teachers and staff arrive at the school every day, loving each child and showing what true love looks like: Love looks like laying your life down for your friends. (-John 15:13) In their hands, love is hot meals, safe classrooms, tender counsel, and lessons that open futures. It’s also parents rushing to pick up their children and teachers putting their lives on the line to get to and from school each day.

As we close out the year, Haiti Kids School is committed to raising money to provide modest year-end bonuses for our dedicated staff and teachers, and to close our budget gaps so that every child can remain in class in 2026.
