This year, Great River Greening has completed numerous projects that have improved water quality and water habitats, resulting in cleaner water for drinking and thriving environments for aquatic life.

• Our work expanding and enhancing prairie not only provides habitat for pollinators, but the prairie acts as nature’s sponge filtering water through its roots. 
• Our work supporting farmers with regenerative farming practices in southern Minnesota continues to improve water quality in Seven Mile Creek—a designated trout stream, where trout are a positive indicator species of creek health and finally on the rebound. 
• Healthy shorelines create healthy waters. Our Carver Creek shoreline restoration is using logs and downed trees to “armor,” or stabilize, the banks of the creek. We can then plant native vegetation that will reduce erosion and improve shoreline habitat.
