The mission of Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is to end child abuse and neglect and create strong, healthy families.
In 2016, almost 40,000 Minnesota children were the subject of accepted child maltreatment reports, assessed by county and tribal agencies — a 25 percent increase from 2015.
Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is a trusted resource for parents to call in their time of crisis.
We offer a 24-hour crisis line, crisis counseling, community referrals, parent education classes, a family support group, a home visiting program, and overnight residential care for parents to place their children voluntarily—newborn through age six—for up to three nights while they address their crisis.
This past year, your support positively impacted the community:
- 3,764 crisis calls managed
- 5,442 times children were tucked into bed for the night
- 2,688 referrals provided to families
- 1,247 times families met with an Advocate to receive help
- 528 children from 313 families stayed at the Nursery
- 47 families and 95 children served through our home visiting program
Because of the Crisis Nursery...
"I was able to meet all of my needs to be able to provide [for my family] and continue to take care of them."
"[I'm] able to get some time to myself so that my children don't feel stress at the same time I am."
"[I could] ensure my son was safe and well taken care of while I made preparations for a better future."
Your generous donation helps us serve hundreds of local families who turn to us in their time of crisis.
