Good Courage Farm

A nonprofit organization

“The eyes of all look to you in hope, and you give them their food in due season.” ~ Psalm 145

Many of us are aware of problems with food and farming in this country. Since the pandemic, food shelf visits continue to hit record high sin Minnesota. At the same time, around 40% of food grown in this country is wasted.

Meanwhile, farm lands are stressed by heavy plowing and chemicals. Bees and other pollinators are disappearing. Climate change is visible and it's taking a toll on all of God's good Creation.

We are also socially isolated and spiritually disconnected. Many of us feel profound loneliness and long for connection with neighbors, other species, and the Creator.

At Good Courage Farm, we are building a community focused on mending all of these wounds. Affiliated with the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota,

Good Courage is both a working farm and a spiritual community.

What did this look like in 2024?

Our staff and volunteers grew delicious food to be given away. Duck and chicken eggs, asparagus, raspberries, grapes, and apples were some of the delights shared with First Nations Kitchen, the pantry at Casa Maria, the Lutheran Social Services senior dining program at Zion ELCA, and McLeod Emergency Food Shelf.

Hundreds of friends and visitors participated in work, worship, and meals together. Youth groups and summer camps. College and seminary classes. Church groups.

Our farming practices provide habitat for a multitude of species. We encourage native wildflowers and grasses, and rarely disturb the soil. Thus, our farm is a refuge for fireflies, garter snakes, Monarch butterflies, native pollinators, scores of bird species, and more.

We practiced a rhythm of gratitude and reflection:  Daily Morning Prayer in our silo chapel. Weekly Pie & Prayer evenings. Seasonal festivals that ask God's blessing on the crops and animals.

There is so much more in store for 2025. But we need your help.

  • We invite you to visit the farm in 2025. Come for a Saturday of ora et labora (work and prayer) or for a special celebration of an agrarian feast day!
  • We invite you to join our email list. Our newsletters feature stories of how the Sacred is revealed in the abundant life on the farm.
  • We invite you to donate.

More than 80% of our projected financial resources for the 2025 program year will come from people just like you.

You give. We grow. We give.

Blessings from the Good Courage Farmily!
