Help Make Amazing Things Happen in Gary New Duluth

The City of Duluth closed the Gary New Duluth Recreation Area due to budgetary issues in 2009.  In 2012 the community became organized to bring the GND Community Center and Recreation Area back to life.  The GND Development Alliance was formed to lead the effort. A comprehensive plan was developed to revitalize and transform the site.  The plan was approved by all levels of local government and work commenced.  To date the Community Center has been completely remodeled to serve children through seniors, a large storage building was constructed, two soccer fields have been built, a large, outdoor performance pavilion has been erected, a dog park has been built along with a community garden with raised beds and a multi activity sport court.  An electronic community communication sign has been installed, major landscaping, including a parking lot, paved trails, and outdoor lighting have also been done.

We have started building a state of the art skatepark and will be, installing another, smaller outdoor pavilion and parking lot when the skatepark is completed.
