Givers of Dreams

Givers of Dreams Organization creates educational opportunities, hopes, and the means to keep dreams alive for all children. 

Recognizing that many families in Laos struggle to provide education for their children, the organization strives to address these challenges head-on. According to the World Bank, one-fifth of the population in Laos lives in poverty, with around 86% of those in poverty coming from low-educated, agricultural households. About 41% are from rural and ethnic minority backgrounds. These households, often isolated in remote areas, lack access to essential resources to escape poverty. The scarcity of educational and job opportunities forces many families to rely on subsistence agriculture for survival.

Instead of merely empathizing with these families, we are passionate about creating educational opportunities for underprivileged youth in areas lacking basic educational infrastructure. We believe in harnessing community strengths to ensure all youth from low-income families have the chance to be educated and pursue their dreams. Our initiatives include:

• Free English Classes via Zoom for students from Southeast Asia (zoom)
• Kwv Tij Sib Txhawb (Brotherhood) Life Group Mentorship Program to empower young men (zoom)
• Scholarship Program supporting Hmong students' pursuit of higher education
• Financial Literacy class for youth in Minnesota 

One of our success stories is Tou, a young man from a poverty-stricken family with a drug-addicted father. Most of his siblings dropped out of school or married young. Tou was also on the brink of dropping out but, with support from Givers of Dreams, he continues his education with aspirations of becoming a businessman. After high school, he plans to attend college abroad to study international business. Our goal is to meet our youth's needs, not just as a social service provider but as a community-driven organization focused on leadership development and education. We aim to equip youth with the education needed to solve their own problems and build a better future for their families.

Givers of Dreams also offers volunteer opportunities for youth and young adults in the community, such as teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students from abroad to expand their global knowledge. For more information, please email info@giversofdreams.org.
