The Germanic Genealogy Society is a non-profit organization established in 1979 as the German Interest Group by people who had a common interest in their Germanic heritage. In 1981, it became a branch of the Minnesota Genealogical Society. The current name of the organization was adopted in 1992.

GGS is now an independent 501(c)(3) organization. It is one of the most active genealogical societies in the Midwest, having more than 900 members worldwide. In 2000, it became a member of the Federation of Genealogy Societies. It is also a member of the National Genealogical Society. In 2015, GGS was one of the founding members of the International German Genealogy Partnership (formerly the German-American Genealogical Partnership.)

Your donation today will support the GGS mission: to assist members in researching their Germanic ancestors worldwide. Give to the Max contributions will bolster the society's library collections.
