Friends of the Hastings Arts Center

The Friends of the Hastings Arts Center fosters the enjoyment, understanding, and development of the performing and visual arts at the Hastings Arts Center, an intimate and collaborative home for the arts where transformational experiences come alive.

This year for Give to the Max Day, the Friends of the Hastings Arts Center is raising funds for the Music and Munching Outreach Program in the Hastings Public Elementary schools.  This program brings professional musicians in chamber groups to the elementary students during their lunch hours to enjoy music while they eat. This program has created many positive responses from the students as well as the staff. It has enhanced the kids' lunch hours by making lunch more relaxing and fun. 

It is our hope that by bringing professional musicians to the elementary schools, this program will enhance the music programs in the Hastings Public School district, but also help kids to tap into their creative side and dream of also learning an instrument when they go to middle school in 5th grade. Music is a wonderful, universal language, and it is meant to be shared between musicians and listeners. The Music and Munching Program has created a wonderful experience for all.
