Friends of Old Prairieville Cemetery was formed to restore a long abandoned Pioneer Cemetery

Tim Lloyd went looking for his great great great grandfather supposedly buried near Cannon City Minnesota.  He found no cemetery but just a dense woods with a flag flying above it.   He learned that the cemetery stones were buried beneath the brush and trees.  The county surveyed and cut down the woods and Tim, his wife, Sue and neighbor Peggy Kelly worked for four years prodding and locating 51 gravestones.  Help from others has made possible the mounting of large monuments, removal of tree trunks, landscaping and the planting of grass.  The finishing touch is to be an educational sign telling the story of this pioneer cemetery, its abandonment and restoration. The Friends of Old Prairieville Cemetery welcome funds toward this cause.
