Free Book Buggie

The Free Book Buggie(TFBB) was founded from a vision: A vision that all children would have access to books and to be able to choose books that appeal to them while helping to instill a love of reading.  By providing books to children where they live and learn, TFBB set out to help families overcome two main challenges they faced: financial and transportation.  Making sure a family’s basic needs are met often leaves a shortcoming where books for their children are concerned.

Do you still remember the music from the ice cream truck and the excitement you felt knowing it was in your neighborhood?  Well, TFBB set out to become the ice cream truck of books, igniting an excitement for reading in children of all ages.

You see, many children in our communities have few to no age-appropriate books in their homes. Without access to books, our future generations of leaders, especially those in resource-challenged households, face at risk behavior and fewer opportunities for their future. 

TFBB works tirelessly to partner with organizations all across the twin cities. Our Buggie "drives the love of reading" to children year-round to share books and ignite a love of reading.

Having your very own books fosters a sense of pride in ownership. Youth of all ages need to be able to see themselves in the pages of a book so when there are age-appropriate books in the home:

• Reading enjoyment begins

• Lifelong learning becomes valued

• Classroom learning becomes less of a struggle

• Creativity kicks into action - this is where small businesses are started, new products are discovered, nonprofits are founded

• Communication within families and in social settings improves

• Better outcomes happen for families with access to books
