Fergus Falls Band Program

It’s a proud moment when the Fergus Falls Marching Band comes down the street—starched white uniforms, glistening instruments, the flags flying high and each member in perfect step. Yet so many pieces must come together before those shoes touch the pavement. A fifth grader squeaking out their first notes, the hours of practice for each concert, the tears of frustration when a piece does not work, and the sheer joy of when it finally does.

The Fergus Falls Band Boosters is a committed group of parents, band directors and community members whose goal is to connect students with music through band experiences. The Boosters help to cover additional expenses, beyond the school district’s budget, such as:

• Maintaining a bank of supplies (reeds, slide oil, cork grease, etc...) for students who cannot afford them. The goal of this bank is to keep students engaged in band and not allowing the minor bumps to keep them from participating.
• Welcoming the new 5th graders with a maroon & gold t-shirt, declaring “I’m With the Band!”
• Covering the cost of guest musicians to work with the students.
• Helping to offset travel costs so all students get the experience of a lifetime on music trips.
• Scholarships for band camps and other learning experiences.
