Faith in Action for Cass County

Donations support volunteer services to older adults, people with disabilities & families in need. FIACC helps people remain independent & living at home.

Faith in Action for Cass County is making a difference in rural MN. In 2023, FIACC coordinated 106 volunteers serving over 331 people in need in Cass County, primarily older adults, people with disabilities and families in crisis. FIACC volunteers logged over 6600 hours in service and drove over 106,725 miles. Faith in Action volunteers serve others by providing friendly visits, homemaking, chores, caregiver respite, meal delivery, home repair, ramp building, and primarily transportation to medical appointments, grocery store, food shelf or other errands. 

As “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”, Faith in Action is a primary transportation option for people living in Cass County, MN. Since Cass County has no public hospitals, a visit to a specialist or an appointment for a procedure can mean a 1-hour drive each way. There are no buses, taxis, Lyft or Uber, or other transit options in our area. Even before COVID rural MN saw much isolation for older adults and people who are home-bound. Without good "neighbors", people often can't get to appointments and don't get the help they need. 

"Your drivers are so courteous and helpful and I appreciate this very much." said one 90-year old woman. Another woman wrote, "Thank you for your volunteer. I am blessed to have him come and mow my yard." A disabled couple wrote, "Thanks for the wonderful help. It was the best work possible ever." 

Faith in Action is a grassroots, volunteer non-profit organization with a small budget and staff. We rely on grants, fundraisers, and local support. Donations go to pay for the expenses necessary to manage the volunteer program, including liability insurance, background checks, staff coordination and communication, training, and volunteer mileage reimbursement.
