The E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation uses a three prong approach - mind, body and soul - to provide opportunity to urban youth.

Former Minnesota Viking Pro Bowl Linebacker E.J. Henderson has a passion for youth. Since 2007, the E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation has been working with youth providing athletic and fitness programs, academic support and life skills lessons designed to help promote good choices and bright futures.  In the summer of 2011, the Foundation moved its offices to North Minneapolis and began providing services through space at North High School.  Working with a variety of community partners, Character Development and Leadership as its life skills curriculum provider and Lifetime Learning as its online academic support provider, the Foundation is making a difference in the lives of urban youth.

Other Intiatives:

Summer football camps:  Each year the Foundation provides free camps consisting of football skills training and life skills lessons to youth ages 12-18.

Annual Turkey Giveaway - For the past five years, the Foundation has provided turkeys and other food items to families in Minneapolis.  This event has grown from 300 families in 2007 to over 3,500 in 2012.

Annual Holiday Adopt a Family - The Foundation provides local families with an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts.

Family Nutrition Seminars - Beginning in 2012, the Foundation began promoting healthy nutrition by inviting families to participate in a session taught by a nutritionist and a food shopping spree to test their new knowledge.

"A single opportunity can change a life."
