Education Foundation of Bloomington

A nonprofit organization

80 donors

The EFB focuses on enhancing the learning experiences of students in the Bloomington public schools.

The EFB was started in 1986 when a group of committed and concerned citizens decided to unite and support quality education in Bloomington by forming a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization.  To help ease the sting of budget cuts to public education over the past 28 years we have raised over one million dollars through teacher payroll donations, generous donations and endowments from residents and friends of Bloomington and through charity events and community appeals.

We depend on community support to fund our very important and needed programs:

Student Success Stipends which help ensure that all students can participate in and learn from educational experiences -field trips, performances, team prujects - that require fees.

Senior Scholarships which help qualified Bloomington graduates afford their first year of post-high school education.

Children's Food for Thought which provides free school meals for students whose family income is not low enough to qualify for federally funded free/reduced-price meals.

Classroom Innovation Grants which enables teachers to explore and evaluate creative instructional projects that meet their students' learning needs.

Prodigy Awards which recognize school district staff members who work successfully in teams to achieve their assigned goals.

Our foundation is run by a very dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and less than 10% of income used for overhead and/or administrative costs.  2011 was our 25th Anniversary Year and we are committed to serving our education community for many more years to come!
