Car Care Program

Who we are:

The  Car Care Program, Inc.  is a 501 c 3 nonprofit corporation that is faith based and represents a community coalition uniting the social service agencies and faith-based social ministries addressing people in poverty challenged with transportation barriers.

Promoting Independence by Providing Car Care.

What we do:

The  Car Care Program receives donated cars, repairs them and then gives them to needy families.  If a family already owns a vehicle but can't afford critically needed repairs, we will repair the vehicle using primarily volunteers. These repairs are completed on Car Care Saturdays.

Car Care Saturdays

On a Car Care Saturday, one of the franchised dealers in Alexandria evaluates four to six cars that are scheduled for repairs by volunteers on the following Saturday.  Parts are ordered and billed to Car Care.  On Saturday morning, the volunteers arrive at the dealership and under the direction of the Service manager and support of the shop's technicians, cars area repaired at about 10 to 30 percent of the retail cost.  This cost, up to $300 is covered by Car Care.

• So parents can get their children to day care
• So children can participate in outside school activities
• To restore self esteem and independence to individuals and families
