Dear friends and supporters of youth-led activities at The Depot Coffee House in Hopkins, MN: 

As we join the urgent calls to action to support the Depot Coffee House, we need your support. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Depot, which has been a community hub and a beacon of hope for generations of young people in the area. 

Since 1998, the Depot has been led and inspired by the youth of our community, who have shaped the programs and the coffee shop with the support of adult mentors. The youth board members manage the venue, while youth bands perform every Friday night. The Depot also hosts special nights and an open mic night on Tuesdays, providing a platform for all ages to showcase their talents.

The coffee shop at the Depot serves as an amenity for the youth programming as well as the wider community, attracting regular commuters and bikers as well as groups who reserve the large room for daily or weekly meetings. All profits generated by the coffee business directly support the youth programming.

We are deeply concerned by the recent actions taken to suspend operations at the Depot Coffee House by the City of Hopkins, the City of Minnetonka, the Hopkins School District, and the Three Rivers Park District, due to a lack of sufficient revenue.

To continue providing caring and trained adults to support this enterprise and the youth who make it happen, we must raise funds to supplement the revenue produced on-site and the contributions from Depot community partners: City of Hopkins, City of Minnetonka, Hopkins School District, and Three Rivers Park District.

The Depot is a vital community resource that empowers youth to develop their skills, creativity, and leadership potential. By supporting the Depot, you are investing in the future of our community and ensuring that the next generation has the tools and resources they need to succeed.
