OUR MISSION

Inspired by diverse styles and community exchange, we create dance projects inspired by diverse styles and community exchange. We strive to create dance accessibility through choreography, education, and performance.

ABOUT US

Dance Projects by ME is a Twin Cities based collaborative dance organization founded by Carmen Lucia Lincoln and Erika Martin. Carmen Lucia is a dance artist from Guadalajara, MX who works to promote dance in Mni Sota Makoce to share space and movement with more communities. Erika is a choreographer and dance educator originally from NC, who has similarly made MN home for their artistic practice. Their shared passion for dance education and accessibility to cultural diverse arts led to the creation of Dance Projects by ME.

OUR PROJECTS

Since our founding we have developed two primary areas of programing: Movement as Language and the Minnesota International Dance Festival that engage with the community to increase dance accessibility and empower the local dance community.

Movement as Language 2023 | Bill Cameron

Movement as Language is a community program
that includes workshops, performances, and cultivated conversations. Dance Projects by ME developed this program centered on the practice of utilizing dance as a language to express the intersectionality of personal narratives. Our next community workshops begin at the Ordway in January 2025 focused on the theme of Ancestry.

The Minnesota International Dance Festival is a bi-annual festival that brings together community members, emerging Twin Cities Artists, and International dance instructors and choreographers for a week of community exchange through workshops and performances. Central to our mission is making dance accessible through choreography, education, and performance. This festival makes cultural programming accessible to over 300 Minnesotans and celebrates the diverse dance styles of immigrant communities in MN. MNIDF 2023 celebrated Mexico, MNIDF 2024 celebrated Cambodia. Learn more at mnidancefestival.org.
