The Curing Alzheimer's Disease Foundation is the Only Minnesota-Based Nonprofit exclusively funding Alzheimer's Research here in Minnesota!
That's right - our Foundation has agreed to fully fund The Alzheimer's Legacy Lab at the University of Minnesota! And...for the past two years we have been working behind the scenes putting this plan into motion. Now that The Alzheimer's Legacy Lab has been established, we need the help of our community, Corporations and Private Foundations to help make sure that together we can discover the cure for Alzheimer's.
World-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Liam Chen MD PhD (pictured above center), and his dedicated research team run The Alzheimer's Legacy Lab at the UMN. Their focus is "The Infectious/Microbial Hypothesis" of Alzheimer's - which theorizes that Alzheimer's is actually caused by infection, very likely from Periodontal (Gum) disease. This long-standing hypothesis actually originated in Alois Alzheimer's day. And in the last few years has risen to become one of the top explanations for this growing pandemic that selectively attacks the old.

FACT: over 80% of patients with Alzheimer's Disease have Periodontal Disease. FACT: oral bacteria that causes gum disease is consistently found at autopsy in brains of Alzheimer's patients. FACT: nearly 50% of people over 30 have gum disease. And that percentage increases as we age. FACT: The true founder of this organization - a dentist - actually reversed late stage Alzheimer's by treating himself with medications that treat Periodontal Disease. FACT: The current belief that Beta Amyloid is "bad" is now known to be incorrect. FACT: the Beta-Amyloid protein is actually antimicrobial (kills infection) ... meaning that, the very existence of Beta Amyloid in the brain signals that an infection is / has been present in the brain.
Through our funding of The Alzheimer's Legacy Lab, Dr. Chen and his colleagues are able to uncover how a bacteria from the mouth (or other parts of our own body such as the sinus, stomach, or gut) is getting into the brain. And from there, they intend to determine how this causes so much destruction. The work we are funding will advance the world's understanding of the most complex, and until now - illusive disease...and this ground breaking work is taking place right here in Minnesota!
My mission is to cure this disease. And I hope you can join me by supporting our public charity in raising the money needed to fund Alzheimer's research here in Minnesota
Your fully tax-deductible donation can help make this happen - so please donation today!
WE MADE IT EASY FOR YOU TO DESIGNATE WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES (You'll notice on our donation page that you can select 3 different ways to help: Your money. Your choice)
-
The Alzheimer's Legacy Lab. We made this your default donation option. By committing to "Seeing the Science Through," we will remain the sole funding source of this lab UNTIL THE WORK IS DONE. This requires approximately $250,000/year - more if we want the work to go faster. You pick this option, and every penny you donate (outside transaction fees) will go to Alzheimer's research.
-
Keeping Your Mind - the practical guide to preventing Alzheimer's. In our journey to understand Alzheimer's, its risks and potential causes, the CAD Foundation has amassed enough evidence-based data to create a 5-session program that provides everything you need to protect against contracting sporadic Alzheimer's. Our goal is to eventually make this seminar content available globally. We are presently applying for grants from the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Department on Aging and various foundations throughout Minnesota to cover the cost of this program. You pick this option, and every penny you donate (outside transaction fees) will go to Alzheimer's education.
-
General operating expenses. The CAD Foundation does not pay any of our officers. And all operational expenses are paid by its board members. You pick this, and every penny you donate (outside the transaction fees) will go help take the burden off our family so we can focus even more of our energies on Curing Alzheimer's and helping others prevent it.
Thanks, and May God Bless You and Yours.
