Crow River Habitat for Humanity has built 28 safe, decent and affordable homes in McLeod County to help families in need. Our work began in 1994 and continues today. In 2024, we will celebrate 30 years of work within our county and communities.  We are in process of finding our next partner family for 2024.

 To date, we have constructed:

  • 17 homes in Hutchinson
  • 8 homes in Glencoe
  • 2 homes in Stewart
  • 1 home in Brownton

Did you know that it takes $100,000-$170,000 to build a new home? This year proves to be even more challenging as lumber prices have skyrocketed. All of construction is done by trained and committed volunteers to help keep the cost down. Through caring hearts and hands, we transform a bare lot into a home. But more importantly, we change lives...one family at a time.

One common misconception is that Habitat gives homes away. We do not. Our homes are sold to the selected family at a zero-percent interest loan, or very low interest loan, keeping mortgage payments affordable for our partner families. And, there's more! Partner families must invest 200 hours of "sweat equity" by helping build their own home, or the home for the next family.  The results of our mission are outstanding, as these families are now living the American dream of home ownership.
