Theater That Ignites

Combustible Company looks for new ways to tell stories.  As artists our quest has been to simultaneously break both the story and the mode of storytelling apart so that it can coalesce into something new for our audience: a shared experience with mythological resonance.  In our work we explore the voice as a gesture of totally embodied emotion with the power to transform words. We seek to make words live as action, emotion and metaphor – sparking imagination and inviting connection.

Coming September 2025
“An Iliad” by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare

A modern-day retelling of Homer’s classic. The setting is simple: the empty theater. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller—possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps. His fate is to tell this story throughout history.
