The CMS presents top professional chamber music groups and fosters appreciation and enjoyment of chamber music in central Minnesota.

The Chamber Music Society of St. Cloud presents a series of concerts by nationally and internationally recognized performers, as well as exceptionally promising emerging ensembles who perform a wide variety of exciting music every season. For more than 40 years (founded in 1979), CMS has enhanced the cultural offerings of the area by featuring trios, quartets, and ensembles from a broad range of musical traditions for the enjoyment of all members of our community. Repertoire has ranged from medieval chant to premieres of cutting edge new compositions; instrumentation has ranged from solo guitar to small chamber orchestra.

In addition to the concerts, the Chamber Music Society brings exceptional musical experiences to residents of the St. Cloud area through free Family Concerts, and school performances and residencies, master classes for music students of all ages, workshops for ensembles, lecture-demonstrations, educational presentations for senior citizens, and performances with local musicians.

The Chamber Music Society contributes to the vitality of St. Cloud, recently named one of the Top 20 vibrant communities for the arts in the USA. The organization has won numerous awards for its contributions to the community, including the Mayor’s High-Five Award in 1996, the first St. Cloud Arts Commission Award in 2000, the CMAcclaim Award from Chamber Music America, one of only two given nationwide in 2008, and most recently, the first Excellence in the Arts Award given by United Arts of Central Minnesota in 2011!
