Center of Human Environment

The Center of Human Environment is a 28 bed facility that houses both men and women with chronic alcoholism, developmental disabilities and serious and persistent mental illness.  We welcome both long or short term residency.  The Center of Human Environment is a licensed board and lodge facility located 11 miles from Mahnomen in a serene country setting.  Each resident has a furnished private room with flat screen televisions equipped with satellite.  There is a designated smoking room in the building in addition to excercise, craft, hobby and recreation rooms.  The Center is staffed 24 hours per day.  We provide three nutricious meals per day plus two snacks.  Most of our residents were homeless prior to coming to the Center.  We enjoy taking the residents on outings to our local state park for picnics and fishing and various other outdoor activities as well as treating them to the movies or the local stock car races.  Each individual has a heart wrenching story as to how their life journey has brought them to the Center.  Our residents range in age from 18 to 76 with the average age being 50.  Some of our residents have been here for years and some will probably be here for the remainder of their life.
