Every Stop is a New Start!

This year for Give to the Max Day, Catholic Charities is raising funds for a NEW Mobile Food Shelf Bus! 

The Emergency Services Mobile Food Shelf, our “food shelf on wheels,” provides monthly access to food for individuals who face disability and/or transportation challenges that make it difficult, or impossible, for them to visit our main food distribution site. 

The Mobile Food Shelf currently transports food to nine St. Cloud area housing locations each month. People living at or near these locations have the option of using the Mobile Food Shelf if they need food. With our Mobile Food Shelf, every stop we make provides people in our community with food and hope for a brighter tomorrow. 

We have received requests to expand the Mobile Food Shelf program; however, we are limited when it comes to staff, volunteers, finances, and our current mobile food bus lacks refrigeration and continually needs maintenance. 

Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf and its Mobile Food Shelf program is committed to providing access to food to all people in need of food. To accomplish this goal, Emergency Services is in critical need of a newly designed vehicle for bringing food access to those customers. 

A New Mobile Food Shelf 

With a new custom-designed vehicle, and with enhanced refrigeration and freezer capabilities, we could:

• Increase our rotation of food stored within our freezers and warehouse, thereby increasing our food rescue capacity and decreasing our food waste. 
• Store and deliver food efficiently and in larger quantities to increase our inventory turnover, which will increase our food rescue capacity.
• Achieve food security within our community by increasing access to healthy, fresh and nutritious food!

Emergency Services is seeing many new faces—individuals who are, for the first time, finding themselves in need of food assistance. We hear the importance of bringing food to those in need. We understand the best way to serve this population. 

But we need YOU to help us stay on the road to food security by helping us purchase a new Mobile Food Shelf Bus!

• provide 446 people with support through individual, family and marriage counseling.
• provide 2,068,098 pounds of food, distributed to 14,556 individuals across 4,838 households in Central Minnesota.
• serve 389,577 meals to seniors aged 60 and older through Senior Dining services including Meals on Wheels. 
• support 1,253 people through supportive living and housing services.
• make a different tomorrow for 45,375 people in our community!
