Thank you for supporting Caritas Vocal Ensemble:
Your donation keeps us singing for good!
First things first: A matching donation!
Caritas is excited to announce that we have $2,000 in matching funds for 2024. Will you consider helping us make that match? Read on to find out how much your contribution can help!
Why support Caritas?
Caritas expands the possibilities of a volunteer vocal ensemble, rooting vocal music in the community and contributing meaningfully to both. As an all-volunteer, mixed-voice chamber group, we are proud to present vocal music ranging from Samuel Barber to Monteverdi to Stevie Wonder with a level of passion and precision to rival the best ensembles around.
Furthermore, over many years our singing, combined with our audiences' generous giving, has raised money and awareness for the work of local charitable organizations, including micro-loan funds, food shelves, affordable housing programs, children's services, and programs against human trafficking and for at-risk youth.
Caritas wants to continue to create compelling community events and take our programming in fresh and surprising directions.
Because our budget is small, every donation on GTMD is vital--in fact, we still get the majority of our income for a season from this month of giving. That's how important it is to our livelihood! Your dollar will be put to good use for the essential resources we need to embark on new artistic ventures, such as
paying the directors who are helping us raise our game and create exciting programs of wide-ranging repertoire,
hiring collaborating musicians (listen for a special one this winter!),
venue rental,
website maintenance and other administrative fees,
publicity development, printing,
and don't forget the sheet music!
Your contribution not only benefits the many worthy organizations we partner with, but also invests in a valuable gem of choral singing in the Twin Cities metro area. Thank you!
"Your collective sound seems to grow finer each year, and your dedication to the causes you sing for more deeply felt."

What's new in 2024-25?
Welcoming Interim Musical Director Monte Mason
Monte MasonThis year, Caritas welcomes Monte Mason to help us prepare for our season of concerts. Monte is best known for his founding and continued direction of The Gregorian Singers, one of the longest-performing ensembles in the Twin Cities. He is also a keyboardist, composer, and arranger. Monte's experience and sense of humor make rehearsals a joy, and take us to a higher level of musicality.
Artistic Director
Paolo Debuque at work
Artistic oversight is provided by Artistic Director Paolo Debuque. Paolo is a choral artist making a mark on the Twin Cities choral scene with independent projects noted for their innovative programming and commitment to grassroots, community-centered performances, including "A Thousand Tongues," a collaborative concert of music and reflections on the AAPI experience. We are excited about the renewed focus Paolo has brought to our community-centered artistic vision, and how that might look in practice.
A Season of Twos
Join us at a concert in 2024-25 on the theme of Musical Stories as timeless tales and melodies come alive with wonder, mystery, and playful surprises!
This year, we're singing two different programs of just two concerts each: Musical Stories: 'Twas the Night... coming this December and Musical Stories: Once Upon a Song, in April 2025. Be sure to catch one!
Dovetailing nicely with Musical Stories, rather than featuring multiple organizations, this year we are maximizing our impact by showcasing two special community partners, both of which work to change the life stories of at-risk youth: Cherish All Children, helping to prevent the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children, and Avenues for Youth, helping unhoused youth find a way out of homelessness.
