Our mission is to give all the children of the community and their family’s safe, fun and interactive environments and after school projects for their health and well being.  All profits go to this mission.  We have purchased and installed new safe and updated playground equipment in 3 parks to date for a cost of $80,000.  We have been saving and working for a 3,000 sq. ft. splash pad in the summer/fall of 2020 that is safe, fun, interactive, educational, intuitive, inclusive and developed for all ages and abilities.  Our 23 member group has over 4,500 volunteer hours in the last 3 years in support of our mission.

The majority of the playground equipment in 3 of our parks was outside of compliance and unsafe for children.  These parks also had limited accessibility and equipment for special needs children. Jacie Cherro was aware of this through the fact that she is a parent so she experienced it in her area and other areas from networking with other parents, grandparents and guardians in Aurora.  This is what prompted Jacie to start Caring For The Kids Community and she is our President.  We were founded in 2012.  Jacie and I became members of the Aurora Park Committee and attended City Council meetings to learn more about the needs and lack of funds to provide new parks and activities for the kids.   We spent our earliest member meetings identifying the areas where we could use the dollars to make the biggest difference.

Our newest project is a splash Pad.  Splash pads enhance the quality of life, provide for learning and development skills, create a sense of belonging, foster community pride and family engagement, promote a healthier lifestyle, provide physical activity with sensory stimulation and put all children on an equal economic playing field.  They have accessibility and features for all ages and abilities. All children will have free daily access to their own "water park" that they can safely walk or bike to.  Splash pads increase usage of the entire park and encourage outdoor activity.  Splash pads bring families and neighbors together in a secure central location that increases the vitality of the community.  They can attract more businesses to our community to improve the economy for the entire community.
