Your gift to the PTO supports our entire school community! All gifts, no matter the size, are instrumental in supporting learning opportunities for students. We put every penny we receive back into Capitol Hill and your donation is 100% tax deductible!
How your donation supports Capitol Hill
With students and teachers at the center of everything we do, we support excellence and well-rounded programming that builds the academic achievement and community fabric of our school. Here are some of the many ways your gift supports our learning community:
-
Field Trips: We cover the cost of all transportation and fees for field trips that support the work students do in the classroom. This allows every student to participate, no matter their financial circumstances. Capitol Hill students go to places like Hidden Falls Regional Park, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Children’s Theater, The Ordway, The Bell Museum, Como Planetarium, Belwin Nature Center, and more!
-
Classroom Supplies: Teachers and specialists receive funds from the PTO each school year to purchase supplies and other items needed to support student learning.
-
Community Building: PTO funds allow us to build community through school events, such as our Family Engineering Night, Doing Good Together (our annual community service fair), Grandparents and Special Friends Day, National African American Parent Involvement Day, and our Spring Carnival.
-
Student Enrichment: Your support allows us to continue bringing in additional opportunities for students, such as author visits and enrichment clusters.
-
Keeping Traditions Alive: Special school traditions are part of what makes our community unique! Donating to the PTO allows us to continue the experiences that make Capitol Hill who we are. One example of a treasured school tradition is Voice, Choice, and Joy Day, where students have a full day of fun projects and experiences centered on student choice and joy!
-
Cougar Pride: Our students have opportunities to shine outside of the school day through opportunities such as National History Day, National Geography Bee, Word Masters Competition, Mock Trial, Math Team, and LEGO League.
-
Student Groups: Our students are our future! The money we raise helps support student groups, such as WEB (our 8th grade leadership group), GLOW (our middle school LGBTQ+ group), and Dare to Be Real (a student-led anti-racism group), that give students a place to belong and to develop leadership skills.
-
Staff Appreciation: We love our staff! Each year, we show our appreciation to the staff that work tirelessly to support our students by providing meals during conferences and by providing a lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week.
-
Equity work and PBIS: Capitol Hill’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program works to create and sustain positive, effective, and culturally-inclusive environments for our students. PTO funds PBIS incentives, rewarding field trips, and supplies that promote academic and social success.
