Calliope Women's Chorus

Calliope Women's Chorus is a feminist chorus in the Twin Cities dedicated to promoting social change through song.

 
Calliope Women's Chorus is currently in its 48th season (2023-2024).  Last year we welcomed more than 25 new singers and a new Associate Director.  We are excited to be growing our community again this year and we're looking forward to GALA Festival 2024 in Minneapolis this July!

The GALA Choruses Festival is a once every four years event that gathers LGBTQ+ choruses from all over North America and the world. The Festival is five days of singing, connecting, and creating. It's wall-to-wall concerts, workshops, social events, joy and pride. It's the largest LGBTQ choral event in the world. And in the summer of 2024, after ultimately having to cancel the 2020 Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is being held in downtown Minneapolis! 

Calliope is a host choir for Festival 2024. We will be performing as a choir and as part of mass choirs throughout the Festival. We are strongly encouraging members to participate and we are committed to supporting those who need financial help to join this extraordinary experience. We will also help host the 7000+ singers and large audiences expected for almost 200 concerts.

 
How can you help us prepare for GALA Festival 2024 and for the future?

 Please consider a donation of any amount to help defray the cost of these chorus expenses:

• $50 will pay for recording materials that help Calliope support singers with a variety of learning styles.
  
• $175 will pay the GALA Festival registration fee for a disabled, youth, or senior assisted chorus member. 
• $300 covers the annual participation fee for a singer who cannot afford dues, supporting our practice of welcoming all singers regardless of their ability to pay.
• $700 will allow us to register two more chorus members for Festival 2024 before the price increases at the end of March 2024. 
• $1,350 covers a month's support for our hard-working Artistic Director and Associate Director as we prepare for Festival 2024 and our seasonal concerts.
