During these unprecedented times, organizing is more than a job- it's a passion that equates to empowering our community in becoming a place where justice is more than a notion or a conversation.

We believe that organizing is a strategy that is used to build safe, healthy communities for all its residents, businesses, organizations and institutions.

Bryant Neighborhood has become the center focus of the world in making this possible as one of its corners rests on the intersection of 38th and Chicago in South Minneapolis.  This is the memorial place where George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis Police Department on May 25, 2020.   This murder sparked a Global Uprising and a demand on to changeing the policing system as we know it.  The Uprising, coupled with Covid-19 has propelled our community to show up in need and in deed.

BNO has built community by: 

1. holding weekly conversations with our residents. 
2. Providing mutual aid funds to neighbors in need.
3. Providing a space of awareness to educate our community on systemic racism and structures that has been historically used to propel the dangerous agenda of keeping black and brown bodies unsafe.

We are now at a place to continue, grow and strengthen our work.  Our continual goal is to empower residents to become leaders and build a safe community.  Unfortunately, Covid-19 is beyond human creation.  However, systemic racism was created by humans so now we have the task to undo those systems and recreate a community that is systematically free of all biases and oppression.
