We are a community led nonprofit dedicated to uniting residents, businesses, community organizations, and the City and School District of Bloomington to restore, preserve, and enhance the beautiful nature areas in our community.

Over the past year, BNNN:

Led community restoration effort at Marsh Lake Park. 2023-2024 saw dramatic transformation of the site, from being overrun by buckthorn to the return of native grasses and flowers amongst the native oaks.

Supported the Kennedy High School Student Green Club in planning and planting 63 diverse native trees on the school grounds.

Started the restoration of the Olson Schools Nature Area. This project will restore the 3-acre nature area (with a wetland) to support environmental education for Bloomington students.

Began working with Kennedy High School to completely redesign and relandscape the internal courtyard into a multi-purpose (environmental education primary use), sustainable (water, soil, vegetation), intentional habitat (birds and pollinators), and nature rich space.

We continued the community restoration efforts of Forest Glen Park (home of the last trout stream (Ike's Creek) in Hennepin County).

We began a restoration project along Nine Mile Creek (106th and Humboldt).

We will soon begin a project to support the Bloomington Public School District in developing a sustainable Districtwide Tree Plan.

Through your support we can continue to grow community efforts in restoring our city and community's great public nature spaces.
