Barnesville Area Living at Home- Block Nurse Program

Assist our elderly neighbors to age in place and help families navigate the transitions that happen as we age

This Live Well at Home program in Barnesville, Minnesota and the surrounding area utilizes volunteers to assist elderly residents and their families to live a more productive life and remain in their home as long as possible.  Mary is an 86 year old who lives on her own with family members who reside in another state.  Her family members are concerned and have noticed that she has declined. They contact Barnesville HELPERS and they do a wellness check with Mary and an assessment.  Barnesville Area HELPERS determines that Mary could benefit from Meals on Wheels, our transportation support, a friendly visitor to meet with her weekly and some medical equipment to assist her in walking and prevent falls. These services are offered to Mary at no charge or at a sliding fee scale to pay as she can afford. Mary can utilize Barnesville Area HELPERS Volunteer Ride Service to access her regional medical services and to pick up her prescriptions in her home town. Barnesville Area HELPERS will be watching out for Mary, and including her in their monthly activities. This valuable service is one of the many ways that enables Mary to continue living in her home!
