Ballot Buddy, the voting app first released in Minnesota during the last election, has been upgraded in 2023 for use in the current Minneapolis City Council race as well as the governors’ races in Kentucky and Mississippi. Ballot Buddy is an unbiased, free, easy-to-use voter guide app that quickly and clearly explains political candidates’ positions and motivates young students and first-time voters, especially those 18-24 years old, to go to the polls.

Users can simply download the app, type in their zip code and Ballot Buddy will pull up the names of the respective candidates in their area. Users can quickly compare candidate positions side-by-side on the top issues that will impact voters or align with their beliefs. These may include the environment, abortion, gun rights and healthcare. Information is available in Spanish, Somali and English.

More and more young Americans are voting. Unfortunately, many others are overwhelmed with the vast amount of information being relayed on an almost hourly basis from many different platforms, some more reliable than others. Ballot Buddy cuts through all the chatter that usually surrounds elections.

They do the research of collecting and comparing candidate information in an unbiased format. Ballot Buddy presents only the clear facts in concise terms that can easily and quickly inform a voter where a candidate stands on issues of importance. Developers work directly with each political campaign to accurately detail their candidates’ positions and to approve how they are described on the app.
