Empowering Youth for Independent Living

More than 6,000 youth experience homelessness nightly in Minnesota with more than half being between the ages 18-24. Adult and youth homelessness are slightly different as our young people are less likely to stay in a shelter and are known as a couch hopper/surfer. Unfortunately, this leaves them unaware of their legal provisions and other basic needs that are available to them.

At Aunties House of Refuge our long-term transitional housing program serves as a preventative measure against youth homelessness in Minnesota. We start by showing them how to obtain their legal provisions, provide housing and map out a desired plan for their life.

We service youth anywhere between the ages of 16-21 with available support up to the age of 24.

Since 2018, we have empowered youth for independent living through programs that assist with choosing and maintaining adequate jobs, completing and enrolling in school, keeping their living space, maintaining healthy self-clean habits, developing a consistent practice of budgeting and nurturing relationships with themselves before relating to others.

None of which could be possible without the continued support of our community of volunteers and donors.

Thank you to all who have supported us and believe in our mission. It is your actions that show you believe not only us but the potential of our youth as well. In your confidence you create the impact within the youth by giving them the courage to make a positive difference where their lives are forever changed.

We truly value each and every one of you!! We hope that you would continue to support and encourage Auntie’s House of Refuge and join us in making an impact in our community’s youth.
