MISSION STATEMENT

ACT-TC, in partnership with diverse faith communities, walks alongside asylum seekers as they pursue self-sufficiency and transition to new lives in the U.S.

WHO WE ARE

ACT-TC has chosen to help asylum seekers because these immigrants typically need the most assistance.  Asylum seekers are desperate, having suddenly left their homes in fear of persecution and their very lives. They arrive in a strange country with no place to live and a legal status in limbo for years.

Asylum seekers need housing and prompt legal assistance with their applications for asylum. They cannot legally work in the US for six months after applying. Many cannot speak English, they lack food, clothing and affordable housing, and the list of needs goes on.

ACT-TC provides volunteers and resources to help during these turbulent times of transition.  We walk with asylum seekers to find housing, food, clothing, legal assistance, English language training, employment once authorized, health care and benefits.  We honor their goals and we seek to give them the skills and decision-making ability to pursue their choices independently.

This year we are campaigning to raise $18,000 by the end of the year to fund a year’s worth of rent in affordable housing for an asylum-seeking family.
