Angel of Hope Animal Rescue in Anoka, Minnesota began helping cats and kittens in 2003. In 2013 the Rescue was looking at closing down unless someone took over. Since that decision to step in and rebuild Angel of Hope we have adopted over 12,000 dogs and cats into loving loves. We have also been busy building partnerships with other rescues and shelters. With this year being the 20th Anniversary for Angel of Hope we would like to challenge you to donate $20 either one time or monthly to help save pets lives!
Angel of Hope works closely with local and out-of-state impounds and shelters to bring pets into our program. We also take in transfers from other overwhelmed rescue partners as well as owner surrenders. We have an amazing group of foster homes committed to helping even tiniest kittens and puppies survive and thrive. Having handled over 1000 orphaned kittens and puppies, and with a higher than national average survival rate, we have become somewhat experts in neonates that require 24/7 round-the-clock care and have other rescue groups reaching out to us for advice.
With our Veterinary Suite we started rather bare bones but have continuedly added equipment to allow us to do more and to do it more efficiently. We expanded from just spay/neuters to specialty surgeries and dental cleanings with extractions. We are able to handle FHO on felines, mass removals, enucleations, amputations, and dental cleanings and extractions of teeth when needed. By having most of our vet work done in house it helps to save some money and makes us more efficient in getting our pets ready to find forever homes Our amazing veterinary team gets to know all the pets under our care and helps ensure that they are healthy and ready for adoption into new homes. Our inhouse veterinary suite has allowed us to control some of the high costs of veterinary care that many of the pets we take in need.
Prior to adoption, our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and socialized. Cats in our care are tested for Feline Leukemia. Dogs in our care are tested (and treated) for Heartworm and tick-born illnesses. Our foster families know the personalities of the pets and can help you determine if a pet is a good fit for your home and family. We strive to make every adoption a success.
Our short-term, future goals include acquiring additional equipment for our veterinary suite such as: dental x-ray equipment and a therapeutic laser to help wounds and injuries heal faster. In the future, we hope to own our own building where we can have communal housing for the cats and a place to house the dogs while they are being medically treated by our veterinary staff.
Angel of Hope has cats and kittens in the adoption centers of several local PetSmart(Plymouth, Maple Grove, Shakopee, Roseville and Maplewood), Chuck & Don's (East Plymouth, West Plymouth, Elk River, and North Oaks), Petco's (Fridley, Coon Rapids and Brooklyn Park), and Pets Supplies Plus (Blaine and Fridley).
