Africa Classroom Connection builds schools in rural South Africa, where the lasting effects of apartheid and the continued lack of public funds leave the kids in this area desperately underserved. Our classrooms mean kids no longer need to attend classes under trees or in overcrowded, rudimentary structures. By giving them access to education opportunities, their potential can thrive! All children should have the opportunity to learn. Education is the key to their economic and social advancement.

Mission

We work with local communities in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to build classrooms and help kids stay in school. Without classrooms, students are either overcrowded in limited structures and/or taught under trees in harsh conditions and with few resources. During rainy seasons, they are unable to learn at all. No child should need to go to school outdoors in the rain or cold.

Programs

We raise funds to build much-needed classrooms to allow deserving children the opportunity to learn. Education is the pathway out of poverty. Residents of the region we serve are living with immense economic disparity and unmet needs as a result of historical persecution and lack of resources. The lasting effects of apartheid are still evident.

Founded in 2006, Africa Classroom Connection has helped over 56,000 kids by building 145+ classrooms. More than 150 classrooms remain on our waiting list, some for as long as five years.

Classrooms are the heart of the community - some are used at night for adult learning and some used as makeshift dormitories for girls in areas where the exceptionally long walk home can be dangerous. Education is not taken for granted.
