Chris Wichert

Impact Associate | they/them/theirs

Chris is a proponent of grassroots advocacy, digital tools, and collaborative efforts to drive meaningful change.

Chris began their career as a case manager, working directly with individuals to navigate social services and resources. They also spent time in front-end tech support for e-publishing in the newspaper industry, gaining technical skills and insight into digital communications. Wanting to merge that passion for technology with community advocacy, Chris transitioned into nonprofit support, ultimately joining GiveMN, where they assist organizations in leveraging fundraising platforms and maximizing their impact.

Chris started school studying web development and music technology, but their passion for understanding social systems led to the completion of a sociology degree at the University of Northern Iowa. Their research thesis focused on trauma among transgender folks, driven largely by a passion for better understanding their own community. During college, Chris was deeply involved with the Gender & Sexuality Center, engaging in community education and support initiatives. Outside of work, they are a big fan of electronic dance music and weird art house movies, always looking for the next unique experience to explore.
