Background:

Local St. Paul artists began the St. Paul Art Collective, a nonprofit [501(c)(3)] organization, in 1977 to be able to seek funding from foundations to organize art exhibitions to develop communication between artists and the community.

SPAC has contributed significantly to the culture of St. Paul, through organizing the first artists’ co-op housing in Lowertown, operating the Wall Street Gallery for six years, organizing and promoting arts events, and publishing arts magazines and directories. SPAC’s representatives have served on a variety of committees, planning arts, culture, housing and economic development.

The Need:

The Saint Paul Art Collective (SPAC) is embarking in a pivot to a post-pandemic future and is seeking donations on Give to the Max Day to help enable us to survive and ultimately thrive.

SPAC has a rich history of contributing to Arts and Culture in St. Paul and is determined to continue to so. In addition to our regular programming, our 2023 Strategic Planning process will focus on reaching out to key stakeholders to gather input for the plan. This engagement process will include surveys, interviews and workshops.

Your generous contribution will enable us to sustain our organization as we embark on tactical and strategic initiatives in 2023 and beyond. This includes developing a replacement of the pre-Covid advertising revenue stream we had from our annual catalog.

2023 Strategic Planning:

The Saint Paul Art Collective (SPAC) has plans to gather stakeholder input for for the Strategic Planning process via a Survey, Targeted Interviews and Workshops.

Outputs of the project include a strategic plan as well as a high level timeline for implementation of prioritized initiatives.

While we continue to respect and honor the legacy of the Collective and all of its accomplishments over the years, the board is focused on moving the collective into the post-pandemic future.

The Strategic Plan is envisioned as a vehicle to position the Collective to invest in Saint Paul creatives to promote the artists of Saint Paul, while also raising visibility for the St. Paul Art Crawl, and the St. Paul art scene as a whole.

With the Collective’s support and encouragement, Art districts have blossomed in other parts of the city. We believe a strong Arts community is essential for all Artistic endeavors throughout the city.

By doing deliberate and methodical outreach to historically underserved and marginalized communities as we gather input for the Collective’s Strategic Plan, we will proactively gain buy-in from these stakeholders.

By demonstrating the broad outreach that went into our Strategic Plan, we will have a strong narrative to guide us as we seek to deliver on the objectives defined in the Strategic Plan.
