This Pride month, help Women's Prison Book Project restock our shelves with LGBTQIA+ books!

$1,830

raised by 44 people

$2,000 goal

Did you know that 40% of people incarcerated in women's prisons in the United States identify as LGBTQIA+? And, because of systemic racism and transphobia, nearly one in six transgender Americans—and one in two black transgender people—has been incarcerated.

From medical resources and mental health support to romance and memoir, we frequently receive requests for queer and trans books. And because we are constantly navigating restrictions from prisons (some don't even allow us to send LGBTQIA+ content), sending new books is the best way to ensure that prisons won't reject our packages.

Help us fulfill book requests from LGBTQIA+ people who are incarcerated. Your donations will be used exclusively to purchase LGBTQIA+ books from highly requested genres to restock our shelves.

Some examples of how your donation may be used:

  • $15 donation - 1 copy of "The Trans Self-Care Workbook"
  • $30 donation - 2 copies of "Lesbian Couples: A Guide to Creating Healthy Relationships"
  • $50 - 6 copies of "You Should See Me in a Crown"
  • $100 donation - 5 copies of "Yes, You Are Trans Enough"

Thank you for helping reach LGBTQIA+ people who are incarcerated, breaking through the isolation of prison, and making sure they have access to the reading materials they want, need, and deserve.
