This year, we’ve all experienced moments of deep disappointment, shock, and even rage, especially in the wake of the recent election results. It can feel like the world is moving in a direction that doesn’t reflect the values we hold dear—justice, empathy, and the right to create a better future. Many of us are struggling with a mix of hopelessness, powerlessness, and grief. It’s hard to stay optimistic when the news feels overwhelming.
But in moments like this, we want to remember the words of Rebecca Solnit: “The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean that we cannot save anything, and everything we can save is worth saving.”
At SCCC, we are choosing to save something—and it’s something worth saving: our children, our community, and the values we pass down to the next generation. We are not giving up. Despite the difficulties, we remain committed to creating the world we want our children to grow up in—a world rooted in compassion, equity, and the belief that every child deserves the best start in life.
As we near the one-year anniversary of reinstating our Teacher Collective, we are reminded of the importance of investing in our educators and the positive impact it has on our children. This year, thanks to your support, we’ve been able to create a stronger, more collaborative environment for our teachers. However, there is still more work to do.
To ensure that every teacher at SCCC is equipped with the knowledge and skills to guide our children in the most effective and nurturing ways, we are striving to get them all formal training in the HighScope curriculum. On Give to the Max Day, we ask for your support in making this vision a reality. Your donation will directly support our Teacher Collective, ensuring that every teacher has access to the professional development they need to thrive. We believe this is an investment in the future—not just of SCCC, but of the world our children will help build.
HighScope training is an investment – the four week full curriculum costs $3,800. If every family donated $220, we would hit our goal of training two additional teachers. That’s less than $20/month per family. Can we collectively commit to offer our teachers this valuable learning opportunity?
We know that times are tough, and it may feel like small acts of kindness or support won’t make a difference. But every contribution matters. Together, we can create a ripple effect of change, one small step at a time.
Thank you for being part of our community and for continuing to stand with us in this work. We look forward to seeing how we can grow together in the year ahead, for our children and for the world they will inherit.
