Provision Community Restaurant is responding to the current COVID-19 crisis in the city of Minneapolis. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a restaurant, Provision has been impacted by this crisis in various ways. In keeping with our mission, we have gotten creative in how we meet community needs. Because we have a give-as-you-can motto, we are continuing to give-as-we-can to our community. So what does that look like?
- We are continuing our food rescue and repurpose program, but instead of serving those meals in our restaurant, we are creating free to-go meals for those impacted by school closures, lay-offs, or anyone who wants to see a smiling face. Sixty meals are available each day, Monday to Friday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. We will do our best to adjust to demand and food availability
We are partnering with a local nonprofit that houses and supports people experiencing homelessness by producing 85 lunches a day that we deliver to the shelter
Of course, the health and safety of our staff, guests, volunteers, and community is our highest priority and we are constantly evaluating our daily routines. We are limiting volunteers to our core group of regulars so we can ensure proper sanitation and safety precautions, include requiring everyone wear gloves, aprons, and face masks when occupying space in the kitchen or preparing food.
If you are looking for ways to support us as we give-what-we can, here are a few things that would help:
Share what we are doing with your friends and family. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and share our posts so more people know about our take-out meals. Forward this email to anyone you think would be interested
Consider a donation. Without our regular diners and income from Sustainability Dinners, and having canceled our Spring Gala - our major source of funding, we will need new sources of revenue to sustain our work. Monthly donations, no matter the size, will help us continue to support the community
We know that many of our supporters are members of the food industry and the theater world and will not be in a position to support us financially in this time of hardship. Now we have an opportunity to give back to you what you have sown into us. Our hearts go out to you. We are grateful for your love and support and hope you will come by to grab a meal or two soon
Peace and Good Health to You All!
