The PenFed Foundation with its mission to champion our military through investment, advocacy and outreach has awarded Homeward Trails with an incredible $25,000 matching grant to waive adoption fees for approved military families during the month of October, which is national Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month.
Homeward Trails will be working to secure donations up to $25,000 to match this grant 1:1 for a total of $50,000 that will go entirely towards the goal of getting our rescued dogs and cats into loving military families.
"The PenFed Foundation is proud to partner with Homeward Trails Animal Rescue to provide military families with the gift of a loving companion during a time of urgent need following the devastating flooding in North Carolina," said PenFed Foundation President Andrea McCarren. "Adopting a pet is life changing and improves a family’s well-being by providing comfort and alleviates stress and anxiety. Dogs also encourage families to spend more time enjoying the outdoors and engaging in physical activities.”
We here at Homeward Trails know how many animals will be saved through this amazing opportunity and the lives of military families that will be forever positively impacted. And the opportunity to make this happen during one of our country's worse natural disasters is amazing.
PLEASE share and donate today. Your $5 turns to $10 immediately. This is truly a dire time in animal welfare, especially in our area as a result of Hurricane Helene and with collaboration, we can get out there and save lives together.
